Recruitment OpportunitiesOpportunities at the Melbourne Centre for NanofabricationResearchers and Technical staff for new Melbourne Fabrication Facility (Nine positions) The Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN) is the Victorian node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility. A collaborative initiative between state and federal government, CSIRO and major Victorian universities, MCN’s ultimate purpose is to fill the gap in Australia for open access, multi-scale, multi-disciplinary nanofabrication infrastructure. MCN’s goal is to support and produce research and prototype advances in areas that include environmental sensors, medical diagnostics, micro and nano actuators, novel energy sources (e.g. solar cells) and novel bio-nanotechnology products like drug-delivery devices. Monash University, as the lead agency for the MCN collaboration, seeks to appoint suitably qualified and experienced professionals to work within the diverse cleanroom, bio-chem laboratory and flagship instrument capabilities housed at the MCN. These will include electron and focussed-ion-beam fabrication capabilities, optical lithography, embossing and nano-imprint lithography, a variety of etch and deposition capabilities, a polymer electronics lab and general chemistry/bio facilities. Based at the new state-of-the-art MCN facility adjacent to the Synchrotron, Melbourne, Australia this is an exciting opportunity to work at Australia’s newest and largest fabrication specific facility and position the MCN as one of the country’s leading fabrication hubs. Successful candidates will undertake a range of multi-scale fabrication and characterisation activities in both hard and soft-materials cleanrooms and laboratories (including class 100 and PCII areas) which will house some of the leading equipment in the country. They will contribute substantially to research programs and will ensure delivery of the required outcomes, supporting people from multiple disciplines. Candidates’ technical and scientific background fields can be broad but are likely to be in chemistry, physics, engineering, materials, bio-chemistry and biology. Substantial training will be offered to successful candidates in each of the roles. For position information and application details visit www.monash.edu/opportunities
